Product Info

Intricate hand embroidered fans in a variety of traditional shapes. From serene garden scenery to lush lotus ponds, each stitch is made with Suzhou Embroidery - an official intangible cultural heritage artform of China. 

Made from ultra-fine silk threads, Suzhou Embroidery is renowned throughout history and worldwide for having the most beautiful sheen, the most painstaking details, and the finest woven embroidery skills. 

Double-sided Tuan Shan 团扇 (round fan), one of the oldest forms of hand fans in Chinese history and one of the greatest treasures of traditional Chinese arts. Made with a transparent silk frame, perfect for showing off the stunning double-sided embroidery! 

Before folding fans, Tuanshan 团扇 were widely used especially by women. Dating back to the Han Dynasty, the silk fans were often adorned with flowers, animals, and mythical imagery. 

Tuanshan can come in various shapes, despite the name "round fan". Popular shapes include 12-leaf petals, circle, oblong, and even Chinese garden window-inspired forms.

 

This item is hand-embroidered and has a 35 day construction period. We appreciate your patience!
