Inspired by the mamian 马面 of the Ming Dynasty, these traditional garments are reimagined with comfort in mind. Still featuring the iconic trapezoidal pleats that create a flattering A-line shape, the Momao Xiewen 磨毛斜纹 Skirt is slightly shorter than your typical Mamian for ease of movement.

Honestly my new favorite skirt ! I was a bit worried that the pleats wouldn't hold if I machine washed it but they did, i was very pleased. The little leather piece does seem a little flimsy but I don't think it would be too hard to replace. It twirls fantastically and hugs my legs when i move. I do wear another skirt underneath as a petticoat because the overlap opens easily, but it adds to the princess effect haha. I could have steamed out the wrinkled but I'm too lazy for it. Overall very satisfied !

The skirt is pretty high quality and I was surprised by the unexpected pocket! My only concern is the strap part of the belt seems quite flimsy and may not last multiple machine washes, but that is something quite easy to replace if needed. Overall I love it so much. Don't mind the wrinkles in the picture, I tried it on straight out the package

Heavier and of better quality than I expected. Super cute and comfortable too! It looks so good and fits well around waist or hips, whichever your preference! I love it to bits. Haha I’m also cool toned and the khaki looks just fine on me so if anyone was concerned about colours there’s your answer.

Momao Xiewen 磨毛斜纹 Brushed Twill Pocket Adjustable Modernized Mamian Skirt

I have it in moss green, and it easily became one of my favourite item. I always layer it with a skirt underneath as it tends to open a bit when sitting (or if it's windy), but it has enough fabric to fully wrap as it should. It's very comfortable and the fabric is thick enough to be worn during winter with an underlayer, but also not so thick it's unwearable in warmer days. Truly versatile! The option to make it tighter or looser is also great. The size chart was accurate for me! Note that there is only one pocket and it's not super deep, but it's functionnal.

The Momao Xiewen skirt is lovely. I chose the navy blue skirt in medium size. It was a perfect fit both length wise and for my waist. The color was true, the cut was neat, and the material was quality. I have received many compliments for it already. I can imagine wearing this skirt whilst riding a horse easily (plus the slits help with that).

What can I say about this skirt? 😍 It’s now my favorite one! The fabric is heavy and warm, creating a beautiful movement while walking; it can be styled with a standing collar top or a simple sweater for a more casual look. It’s also incredibly practical to put on and the waistband is soft and comfortable. I bought the smallest size (I’m 163 cm) and it fits perfectly ❤️

I'm loving this skirt. It's got some weight to it and holds its shape wonderfully. I feel like this is perfect for winter with some layering with thicker tights and an underskirt but also autumn and spring. It's also very practical and allows for a lot of movement. Definitively already one of my favourites. :)
